Abram Wilson for Assembly
Bay Area Republicans have an excellent
opportunity this year with the Assembly
candidacy of San Ramon Mayor Abram Wilson in
the East Bay's Assembly District 15.
Abram Wilson is serving his third term as the
elected Mayor of San Ramon. Previously he
served on the City Council, the San Ramon
Arts Council, and the Parks and Community
Services Commission. Last year, Mayor Wilson
was Chairman of the Contra Costa County
Mayors Conference, where he worked to protect
local communities from excessive development.
As mayor, he has helped revitalize a stagnant
business/government relationship to enhance
the quality of life for city residents. He
also was instrumental in developing a police
and fire Disaster Communication Plan for Bay
Area cities and counties.
Mayor Wilson was an investment banker for
thirty years including work as a Vice
President of Wells Fargo Bank. A United
States Army veteran, Mayor Wilson
earned a bachelor of science degree in
biochemistry at Central Ohio State
University, and he is very proud that both of
his parents were public school teachers.
After a hotly contested four-way primary
election, Abram Wilson won the nomination in
AD15, where Assemblyman Guy Houston is termed
out. This is the
only Republican Assembly seat in the Bay
Area. It includes portions of Alameda,
Contra Costa, Sacramento and San Joaquin
counties, but most of the voters are in the
San Ramon Valley and Livermore. See the map.
Abram is married to Dr. Karen Wilson, a
retired dentist, and they're the parents of
two adult children. Learn more about Abram's
campaign at www.wilsonforassembly.com

We are less than 100 days from the November
election so now is a great time to get
involved in the fall campaign.
There are two opportunities for campaign
training this month. The first is speakers
training on August 23 in San Ramon for those
who would like to be McCain surrogates.
For more general campaign training, I highly
recommend the campaign school this Saturday
in Monterey. They have an excellent program.
One of our most important activities is
registering new Republican voters. New
citizens ceremonies provide a great
opportunity to register brand new Americans.
The San Jose ceremonies have moved to the
county fairgrounds to accommodate especially
large crowds this month. Check in the
Calendar section below to help at the San
Francisco and San Jose ceremonies.
Phone banking for Senator McCain is picking
up in several areas, and volunteers are
needed. Check the Calendar section for listings.

Leadership Update
|
Best wishes to Carol Morrison, who is
returning to the private sector after two
productive years as Executive Director of the
Silicon Valley GOP. Greetings to Kimberlee
Theis, who takes over from Carol. Kim has
worked in recent years with the Romney
campaign, the Leadership Institute, and the
Monterey County Republican Party.
Thank you and farewell to Contra Costa
Republican Party Executive Director Tim
Baker, who is leaving his position on
August 1st to attend law school in Florida.
Welcome to new ED Michael Caporusso,
an experienced political consultant and
recently manager of Robert Rao's Assembly
campaign.
The CRP's Victory 2008 program has been
staffing up. The Northern California Regional
Political Director is Elizabeth
Sanford, who is responsible for all the
counties to the Oregon border. Some will
remember Elizabeth as a former ED in Santa
Clara County. Assisting Elizabeth is
Nathan Conrad, the Deputy Regional
Political Director for the Bay Area. We're
looking forward to working with Elizabeth and
Nathan.
Finally, I have asked Marin GOP County Chair
Morgan Kelly to assist me with my
regional responsibilities, and she will be
serving as my Deputy through the end of my
term next February.
