Across the USA

patriot-dayIn response to a House Resolution requesting a national day of mourning, President Bush proclaimed September 11, 2002 as the first Patriot Day. On this day, it is encouraged that the United States flag be displayed and a moment of silence observed to correspond with the attacks, beginning at 8:46AM (EDT) when the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York. The flag is flown at half-staff at the White House and on all U.S. government buildings throughout the world.
