Steve Hilton officially entered the race for Governor of California. In a campaign launch in Huntington Beach last week, Hilton addressed a crowd of supporters with a clear and direct message: California is broken, and he’s running to fix it. Under the campaign banner “Golden Again: Great Jobs, Great Homes, Great Kids,” Hilton outlined his agenda to reverse the state’s decline after 15 years of one-party Democrat rule—years that brought the highest poverty rate, the worst business climate, skyrocketing costs, and a housing crisis that has driven working families out of the state.
Hilton warned that California is becoming the “sick man of America,” echoing the decline Britain faced in the 1970s. He criticized the bloated bureaucracy, ideological policymaking, and the failure to deliver results despite massive state spending.
The solutions proposed by Hilton center on cutting taxes, restoring homeownership, improving failing schools, and cracking down on crime. Hilton called for a direct challenge to the status quo and urged voters to reject the extremism and mismanagement that have defined California for too long.
Steve Hilton has founded several businesses and is a public policy innovator. Born in the UK to Hungarian parents who were fleeing Communism, Steve attended Oxford University, started his own company, helped David Cameron become UK prime minister, and then worked as senior advisor in 10 Downing Street. In 2012, Steve moved to Silicon Valley with his wife and two children, becoming a US citizen in 2021. After teaching at Stanford and starting another business, he hosted a TV show — The Next Revolution with Steve Hilton — and several podcasts: California Rebel Base, The Steve Hilton Show, and Big Ideas Book Club. Through his policy organization, Golden Together, Steve has set out the changes needed to make California ‘Golden Again’. For more information, please visit www.stevehiltonforgovernor.com
