    The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is changing the way it elects members of its Board of Trustees. The district will be divided into five trustee areas and a person from each area will be elected to the board. Community members are invited to provide information and ideas to assist in the drawing of trustee area boundary lines.

    The next public hearing will be held on Monday, Oct. 4, at 7:00 p.m. to gather information about “communities of interest” throughout the district. There also is an online Communities of Interest Survey. Learn more at www.fhda.edu/trustee-areas

    The school choice initiative is coming soon. In a few short weeks, we will start collecting signatures for the Educational Freedom Act, also known as the California School Choice Initiative. To qualify for the November 2022 ballot will require a minimum of 1.0 million valid signatures. To be on the safe side, we will gather 1.5 million signatures just to make sure. We will only have 180 days to accomplish this.

    The kickoff “Signature Event” will be Super Sunday Weekend, which is October 31.
