    Contra Costa County COVID-19 Drive-Through Testing

    Contra Costa County Supervisor Candace Andersen announced that Contra Costa residents who have fever, cough or similar symptoms can make an appointment for free COVID-19 testing at one of four drive-through sites around the county.

    The sites are available to anyone, regardless of insurance, who have symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever, coughing or shortness of breath and fatigue. Any Contra Costa resident with these symptoms can call 1-844-421-0804 for a confidential screening by a health professional. Telephone screenings will be available from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Depending on their symptoms, callers may receive health advice during their screenings or an appointment for testing at one of four drive-through testing sites:

    ·       Contra Costa Public Health Clinic Services, 2500 Bates Ave., Concord

    ·       Martinez Health Center, 2500 Alhambra Ave., Martinez

    ·       Pittsburg Health Center, 2311 Loveridge Road, Pittsburg

    ·     West County Health Center, 23601 San Pablo Ave., San Pablo

    Screening and appointments are only available by phone. Testing is not available on a walk-in basis. Patients with appointments must travel in their personal vehicles to their appointments, Testing is done without patients leaving their vehicles.     COVID-19 Testing Site Opens at Alameda County Fairgrounds

    Effective Monday, April 27, Stanford Health Care – ValleyCare (SHC – VC) in coordination with the cities of Pleasanton, Livermore and Dublin and the Alameda County Fairgrounds will be operating a drive through testing site for COVID-19 for residents of these cities. The testing site will be open Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., or while supplies last, at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. If capacity is reached and hours of operation are changed signage will be posted at the gate 12 entrance of the fairgrounds. No appointment is needed. Testing is available to patients with or without a physician order.

    The California Congress of Republicans and Bay Area CCR chapters will host a virtual meeting to discuss the “The Return of Discrimination – ACA 5” featuring Gail Heriot, Professor at the University of San Diego School of Law and Commissioner on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, and  Lydia Ortega, Ph.D., Chair emeritus of the SJSU Economics Department. ACA 5 was added to the November ballot by California’s Democrat-controlled Legislature to overturn Prop. 209 relating to gender and race discrimination.     The Hoover Institution will present a new speaker series centered around The Human Prosperity Project on Socialism and Free-Market Capitalism. The topic of Opportunity and Income Inequality will be presented by Edward P. Lazear, Morris Arnold and Nona Jean Cox Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution and the Davies Family Professor of Economics at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. Lazear served at the White House from 2006 to 2009, where he was chairman of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers. He will be joined by Lee E. Ohanian, senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and a professor of economics and director of the Ettinger Family Program in Macroeconomic Research at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
