We’ll also take a look at what the Beijing Olympics are revealing about the Chinese Communist regime, which is using the Covid crisis to implement massive and detailed social controls that are not being scaled back as the health crisis recedes—and probably never will be. We will also consider the increasingly coercive atmosphere in the American academe, illustrated by Georgetown’s punishment of Ilya Shapiro for expressing disagreement with the Affirmative Action policy behind President Biden’s SCOTUS nomination plan. And of course, there will be much more!

Independent Institute: Ukraine Peace or Justice? Will Elon Musk Save Free Speech? Disney’s Culture War, and More

    Wednesday, April 6, 2022

What is Vladimir Putin’s animating goal in Ukraine—a greater “New Russia,” or something less, or something more? If a pathway out of war emerges, should Western powers push for a compromise peace, or for punitive measures against Russia reminiscent of those imposed on the German aggressor in the Versailles Treaty of 1919? Back in the U.S: Should we congratulate Elon Musk on becoming the largest shareholder in Twitter—and hope that he will strike a blow for free speech? How is it working out for Disney as it makes itself the avatar of one side in the culture wars? And what should we make of the stunning admission by the Washington Post and the New York Times that they wrongly suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story before the 2020 election? We will discuss all this and more on this week’s upcoming episode of Independent Outlook.
